Family Photoshoot in the Woods – Aberdeen Photographer
As a family photographer in Aberdeen, I love when a photoshoot feels completely natural and full of joy. Recently I had the pleasure of photographing a wonderful family in the woods, and it was one of those sessions that left me smiling long after. The location, their connection, and even their adorable dog made it such a special afternoon to capture.
From the very beginning, this family was an absolute delight—warm, relaxed, and so at home in the woodland setting. We laughed a lot, explored little paths, and enjoyed the soft light filtering through the trees. Everything about the session felt easy and genuine, which is exactly what I love to capture.
One of my favourite moments of the shoot was when we reached a quiet meadow in the forest. The mum shared that this very spot held a lot of memories for them—she used to walk here with the pram when her little boy was just a baby, gently pushing him through the paths until he fell asleep. That was about seven years ago, and now here he was running, laughing, and exploring the same place. Photographing them in that meadow felt like capturing a full circle moment, a reminder of how quickly time passes and how precious these family memories truly are.
Their gorgeous dog deserves a special mention too! 🐾 Not only incredibly cute, but also so friendly and full of personality. He happily joined in the fun, running between the trees and becoming part of the story. Pets always bring something extra to a photoshoot, and this pup was the perfect addition.
What stood out most to me was how in tune this family was with nature. It was as if the woods were their second home—they felt completely comfortable there. Every smile, hug, and playful moment just belonged in that environment. That connection with the outdoors brought such an authentic energy to the photos.
Looking back at the images, I’m reminded of how much laughter and love filled this session. These are the kinds of memories I feel privileged to capture: beautifully natural, filled with personality, and true to the family.
